Being gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer or identifying as trans, is not a mental illness but homophobia and transphobia can still have a deep and painful effect on LGBTQTS people and can even put people at risk of violence. We all seek a sense of belonging and desire real connections to a community that represents us. Being connected helps our mental health!

Queer is not an illness but there are organizations that can provide peer and social support to connect people to community.
