Self harm

Cutting, burning, rubbing and hitting are all ways a person who is self-harming can inflict pain on themselves. It is difficult to understand but the person who is harming themselves may feel like the pain can provide a sense of relief to intense feelings. Although self-harm is not a suicide attempt, it is something that should be addressed. There are many resources, both online and in the community, that can support individuals and their families.
